The Family Federation celebrates True Children’s Day, one of its major Holy Days
Today, 1st November, the Family Federation celebrates one of its main Holy Days – True Children’s Day. It was established in 1960, on the first day of the tenth month according to the Oriental Lunar Calendar and is being celebrated on that day. That’s why it falls on a different day each year according to our Gregorian calendar.

“True Children’s Day began as a Thanksgiving Sunday Service on November 19th 1960, just a few days before the American Thanksgiving holiday and a few weeks before the birth of Ye Jin, the True Parents’ first daughter. The following year in 1961, the True Parents started to use the term ‘Children’s Day’ and at the 3rd Children’s Day in 1962, True Father explained the importance of all holy days:
‘People celebrate various feasts such as birthdays, weddings, and Christmas, and enjoy themselves. But Heaven has not had such festivals to rejoice. But this day is the one that Heaven truly celebrates and rejoices.’”
In a video message 1st November, Dr. Balcomb says,
“Happy True Children’s Day, everyone.
Wherever you celebrate, let’s take a moment to thank our Heavenly Parent and our True Parents for True Children’s Day, because they are also thanking us.
For many years, our eldest daughter used to remind me on Father’s Day, ‘Dad, I’m the one who made you a parent.’
It’s true, the parents can’t be parents without the children. That’s why the True Parents declared the first True Children’s Day right as their first daughter Ye Jin was about to be born. And everybody ate seaweed soup and followed the Korean birth traditions soon afterwards.
From the very beginning, this day has been a joyful one, celebrating new life. And now, of course, the True Parents have children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Many of us have children and grandchildren. And when you look at your grandchildren, you’re so happy because of the law of resemblance. We see ourselves in them.
And this is what our Heavenly Parent wants to feel today when he looks at our families and our communities, ‘Here are my children! Here are my grandchildren that I’ve been longing for for so long!’
And of course, when your children or grandchildren come to see you, you want to see them looking good.
[…] When you come on Sunday for the services, please wear something bright and cheerful. In our case, Fumiko is wearing a dress that she was given by True Mother. And I’m sporting a tie that True Father gave to me.
You may not have those, but whatever you come, come with the heart, “I’m here now to bring joy to my parents and to God and our Heavenly Parent.
Have a wonderful day, everybody. Bless you.
Let’s make this month of November and December a really fitting end to 2024.
We had such a beautiful time with True Mother when she came here in May for ‘Bloom!’ And she told us, ‘The restoration of Europe is not as far away or even as difficult as you think. You have to unite with me, and let’s do it together.’
With that spirit, Happy True Children’s Day once again! Thank you.”

[Editor’s note: We human beings were originally created as God’s children, meant to grow up and fulfill the purpose for which He/She created us. From the very beginning, we were meant to reach the necessary maturity to inherit and develop the beautiful world God had prepared for us. However, due to the Fall, humanity descended to a very low and primitive level. Therefore, God sends the Messiah so that we once again may become God’s children. The Messiah must overcome the evil that has dominated the world for thousands of years and has always prevented us from becoming God’s children. But for us to fully and completely become His/Her children, the Messiah alone is not enough. He needs a bride, and we humans need a True Mother. Only then can we become God‘s True children.]
